Ukrainian accent was given to the celebration by UIC "Malva" folklore studio "Lastivočki", led by the talented Olena Lastivka. Their performance with Ukrainian ceremonial songs - vesnianki - simply captivated all participants. These songs, full of liveliness and anticipation of spring, perfectly combined with the atmosphere of Mardi Gras and reminded us that traditions connect different cultures.
What happened today!
- Fun music was playing in the courtyard of the mill, and dancing did not let even the cold subside.
- Delicious pancakes, baked according to old recipes, awakened everyone's taste buds.
- Colorful masks and traditional Mardi Gras customs reminded us that winter is almost over and spring is just around the corner.
Special thanks to UIC "Malva" folklore studio "Lastivočki" and their manager Olena Lastivka for the wonderful performance, as well as to Sigita Milvidiene, head of the ethnography department of Šiauliai "Aušras" museum, and to all the organizers and participants who made this celebration so special!
