in 2024 May 25 A theatrical afternoon dedicated to the memory of Taras Shevchenko was held at Šiauliai UIC "Malva" (on May 22, 1861, T. Shevchenko's friends fulfilled his last request. The creator's remains were transported from Petersburg to Ukraine and laid to rest on a high hill on the bank of the Dnieper, near the city of Kanev).
The afternoon was hosted by professional theater and film actress Olena Lastivka. The groups led by her appeared - the children's "Art-studija", the girls' folk song ensemble "Lastivočki".
T. Shevchenko's work performed by parents and children rang out, reeking of longing for the Motherland and sympathy for the people of Ukraine. The poet's verses, turned into folk songs, sounded very relevant in today's war context, as they called for resistance to coercion, enslavement, denationalization and supported the idea of the independence of the Ukrainian state.
The afternoon took place during the implementation of the project "Emotional stability and social, cultural, cognitive integration of Ukrainian war refugees in Šiauliai region" financed by the US Embassy in Vilnius. US Embassy in Vilnius / U.S. Embassy Vilnius
