Almost every day, people come to UIC Malva asking for help. Although we try, we are not always able to meet their needs.
This time, a young girl, who has been taking care of a Ukrainian elderly woman for some time, turned to us for help.
Thank you to the girl for your compassion and proof that there is no such thing as someone else's pain. But is it really so?
The girl explained that the situation had become critical: the elderly woman, who did not renew her declaration of residence in Lithuania on time, was left without an allowance pension...
Trouble doesn't go away alone: the elderly woman doesn't have the funds to both rent a house and solve health problems. A CT scan of the head showed a tumor. Necessary medicines and urgent diagnostics are available only in Vilnius.
With tears in her eyes, the girl said that she turned to the relatives of the elderly woman, who are also located in Šiauliai. The answer was short and brutal: "The sooner he dies, the better for everyone"...
We also heard a similar answer when we contacted the granddaughter of the elderly woman: "If the grandmother appealed to you, then you should help."
We will help, because we are people, because our purpose is to extend a helping hand to EVERYONE.
A food ration has already been allocated to the elderly, financial support from SWEDBANK for the purchase of medicines, a free lunch at the "Rita" website, problems with "Sodra" are being solved and a trip to the doctors in Vilnius is planned.
