The "Lietuvos galios" awards are annual awards given at the initiative of the President to evaluate civic initiatives and good examples of activities in Lithuania, as well as in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Norway, Argentina and New Zealand.
The awards are given for community mobilization, for activities that inspire others to embark on a path of change for the common good, for the strengthening of civic power across the country.
507 various non-governmental and non-profit organizations, collectives and individuals expressed their desire to talk about their initiatives and participate in the award competition. UIC Malva was among them.
The public and a competent commission, made up of experts from various fields of the public and non-governmental sector, voted for the laureates in four categories: "Green Lithuania", "Strong Lithuania", "Just Lithuania" and "Innovative Lithuania" (Malva's activities are assigned to the "Innovative Lithuania" group).
Consideration was given to the social or environmental impact the initiative creates, or how it promotes civic engagement, how the initiative is able to engage the community and mobilize volunteers. It was important how collaborative the organization was, whether it was open to others wanting to join. Continuity and development of the initiative is evaluated, it is checked whether the initiative adapts to the changing circumstances and thus maintains its relevance.
Although UIC's Malva initiative did not make the top five in its category, it earned the honorable mention of laureate. This is a great credit to the hard work of the entire community.
Best wishes and sincere THANK YOU from the President of the Republic and the First Lady.
