Under one sun

On October 20, 2024, the Small Festival of National Minorities "Mes po viena saule" ("We are under one sun") was held in the village of Nausedjai, Birzhai district. The organizer of the event is the Nausedzhaya branch of the Birzhai cultural center.

It is nice that the ensemble of Ukrainian folk song "Swallows", which performed six authentic, sensitive songs, also received an invitation to the festival. The decoration of the holiday was the solo performance of the head of the ensemble, actress of theater and cinema, laureate of the M. Starytsky Prize, Olena Lastivka, who enchanted the audience with her songs and expressive recitation of poetic lines.
The "Ukrainian" part of the concert lasted about 45 minutes. It is nice to note that the audience warmly and sincerely welcomed the guests from Šiauliai, applauded, sang and even danced.
Vocal-instrumental ensembles "Barbelės" (Latvia), "Savejie" and dance group "Liepa" of the Nausejjai branch of the Birjai House of Culture also presented their compositions on the stage of the cultural center. The head of the institution, Iryna Shakura, performed a Belarusian folk song.
As a sign of gratitude, the director of Malva ICU, Serhiy Akhmetov, presented the organizers with a delicious gift. And the "sweet highlight of the program" were the pies, baked by the golden hands of Mrs. Lyubov, the invariable craftswoman of "Malva". All those present had the opportunity to enjoy delicious, aromatic pastries with apple filling.
In the lobby of the House of Culture, guests had the opportunity to purchase handmade products and national Ukrainian jewelry, which were presented by the head of the "Ukrainian Shop" Lyubov Yarmoshenko and her mother Mrs. Lyubov, as well as by the master of Ukrainian jewelry Anna Burmistrova-Protsenko. The staff of the Vilnius restaurant "Smachna Khatyna" treated the guests of the holiday with dishes of national Ukrainian cuisine.
All the participants of the festival representing "Malva" visited the "Sėla" Birzai Museum of Local Lore, got acquainted with the unique history of the region, historical exhibits, walked along the longest pedestrian bridge in Lithuania, climbed the uniquely shaped Kirkili observation tower, from which a breathtaking view opened - small lakes, trees dressed in autumn...
We sincerely thank the organizers of the festival for the invitation and warm welcome. It was a pleasure to be part of the event and to demonstrate the uniqueness of Ukrainian culture to the audience.
